Sinatra founded Reprise Records in 1960, and released his first LP for the label, Ring-a-Ding-Ding! in 1961. Arrangers such as Nelson Riddle, Billy May, and Gordon Jenkins began to work with Sinatra during this time, and worked him well into his later years as a singer. Most critics view Sinatra's Capitol years as his best, releasing not only some of his finest recordings, but also working with his greatest arrangements. Sinatra's primary arranger for the Columbia Years was Axel Stordahl, and the two made only a few albums together.įrom 1952 through 1962, Sinatra worked with Capitol Records, working with several new arrangers and producers on many albums. Few albums were recorded under Columbia, and most of Sinatra's recordings were eithe through radio programs during his early career, or released through singles. Frank Sinatra's career with Columbia Records lasted through 1938 through 1952.
